Paediatric First Aid - Twelve Hour Course

This 12-hour course in basic first aid is suitable for any worker providing care for babies and children under 8 years old. The syllabus is designed in accordance with the revised UK resuscitation guidelines (2005) and meets OFSTED requirements for first aid training in early years settings.

Students will learn a high level of practical skill and theoretical knowledge, so that they can deal competently with situations that may arise when caring for children and babies.

  • Managing Incidents
  • Basic Life Support-Adult, Child & Baby
  • Choking
  • Casualty Examination
  • Unconsciousness
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Fractures
  • Control of Bleeding & Shock
  • Asthma
  • Eye & Ear Injuries
  • Burns and Scalds
  • First Aid Kits
  • Childhood Illnesses including Meningitis & Febrile Convulsions
  • Regulations
  • Recording and Reporting

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the delegate, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.

This course includes certification and a manual for each student. There are no additional costs.
